At long last NFL football is BACK. And more importantly, New York Jets football is back.
How back are we though? This is a tough week one matchup for sure and will be a test for the team right away. The elephant in the room is Leonard Floyd, please, please don't do it again. On a real note I am very scared of Aaron Rodgers getting hurt again facing a tough defensive line. Our new and improved O-Line is going to need to step up, and if they do even an average job against this Dline, I'll be very excited for the season to come.
Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson will need to step up as our big play makers but I personally think that this is going to be on Breece mostly because the Niners secondary is insane. That being said, I think G Wilson will still have a solid game. I am very excited to see him and Aaron Rodgers work together, for real this time. I personally am predicting 65ish yards in this one but good potential.
In terms of offense, the Niners could be in trouble. Trent Williams is still holding out and if he is gone, that is a bottom 5 offensive line in the league. The other elements of offense that are questionable will be Brandon Aiyuk, who is rumored to be less involved in the offense following the saga know as his contract talks. The biggest piece by far though is CMC's availability. He's been dealing with a strained calf which caused him to miss some training camp. Will this keep him out of the game? We'll have to see.
If CMC and Trent Williams are in, the Niners offense should still shine despite a strong Jets defense. However, if they don't play I think the Niners could really struggle. We have a powerful Dline with Quinnen and Jermaine, as well as arguably the best secondary in the NFL that could keep receivers locked up long enough so that Purdy can't find anyone open.
A lot of the possible results tomorrow rely on who is playing and who isn't, nevertheless I believe that it is going to be a fun game to watch.
